Reliance Jio, the telecom operator that made its entrance and shook the Indian telecom market, has again revised its strategies under the Jio Republic Day offer. The company is now offering 50% more data at Rs 50 less on its existing plans
The revised plans will be available January 26, 2018 onwards. All present plans that provide 1GB info per day are awakened to provide 1.5GB data per day and the plans which were offering 1.5GB every day will finally have 2GB every day limit. This usually means that plans at Rs 149, Rs 349, Rs 399 and Rs 449 will have 1.5GB data per day limitation with a validity of 28 days, 70 days, 84 days and 91 days respectively. Whereas, the programs at Rs 198, Rs 398per cent 448 and Rs 498 will possess 2GB data per day using a validity of 28 days, 70 days, 84 days and 91 days respectively. All the aforementioned plans include unlimited calling benefits for both local and national calls.
Jio has also introduced a lesser entry price-point plan at Rs 98. This program offers 56GB data using a FUP limitation of 2GB data per day and valid for 28 days.
These plans have been launched as a response to Airtel’s tariff changes, said the company in a statement. Airtel was aggressively revising its plans to compete with Reliance Jio. Both prepaid programs at Rs 149 and Rs 399 will be the most recent ones to be revised.
For the Rs 149 plan, Airtel is offering unlimited local and STD calls, 100 SMS per day and 1GB information for the period of 28 days. As for the Rs 399 plan, Airtel users get unlimited local and STD phoning, 100 SMS every day and 1GB 3G/4G information every day for the period of 84 days.
Compared with Airtel’s plans, the currently revised Reliance Jio plans offer more data for Rs 149 and Rs 399 by 0.5GB in the exact same respective validity periods. We’ll have to wait and see just how Airtel will now counter these programs, and given the trend, that should occur sooner rather than later.
