A new Captain Marvel trailer is here, giving us Plenty of new footage, a description of the conflict between the Kree and the Skrulls, and the return of a beloved Personality: Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), albeit much younger — he’s been digitally de-aged — Awarded Captain Marvel is Put in the’90s, over a decade before we first saw Coulson in 2008’s Iron Man.
Brie Larson’s titular hero shows her off photon-blasting skills too, has a sit-down conversation with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson, also de-aged), and even trains together with her mentor (Jude Law), who asks her to restrain”it”, maybe referring to her abilities, and let go of her past. Part of Danvers’ backstory entails an accident during her US Air Force fighter pilot years, post that she lost her memories however gained abilities after her DNA was fused with that of a Kree’s. She ends up serving in the elite Kree army unit called Starforce, which we initially saw in the Captain Marvel photos released a few months ago. Law’s character, who’s either called Mar-Vell or Yon-Rogg — the confusion arises because of contrasting previously-released and subsequently-erased cast info, and leaked images of forthcoming Funko and Hasbro toys — would be the commander of Starforce.
Danvers finally makes her way back to Earth, where she matches Fury, who’s now faraway out of his ultimate position as manager of S.H.I.E.L.D. Both Fury and Coulson are now rookies. Stan Lee includes a posthumous cameo in the film.
Captain Marvel will launch March 8, 2019 from India and across the world.
